  1. Nohkalikai Waterfall

Nohkalikai Falls, located 7 kilometers from Cherapunji, is one of Meghalaya’s most stunning waterfalls. It falls from a majestic height of 340 meters and its forceful falls make a deep plunge pool at the bottom. This makes Nohkalakai not only one of the tallest waterfalls in the world but also the tallest plunge waterfall in India. That makes it irresistible to not add it on your Meghalaya package. And hey!   1. Elephant Falls

 

 Now, time for some History class! Do you know the origin behind its interesting name? It was named by the British, who found it deep inside the forest beside a huge rock that looked like an elephant. The rock was demolished in an earthquake but the name remains. Interesting isn’t it?

The specialty of this waterfall is that it is a three-tier cascade. The first fall is very broad and hidden behind the trees, the second one is quite domesticated, and it is the third one that is the tallest with its clear water which makes it look heavenly beauty.

The distance from Shillong to Elephant Falls is just 12km. So, the beauty plus the easy distance makes it a must-visit waterfall to experience on your Meghalaya trip.

  1. Rainbow Waterfall

 

This mesmerizing waterfall is located near Nongriat village, which is about 18 km from Cherrapunji. Rainbow Falls rightly justifies its name as you can see a beautiful rainbow when sun rays fall on its flowing water.

The sets Rainbow fall apart is that it’s deep located in the forest and to experience it, you have to trek for about 1 to 2 hours. While Elephant Falls is a three-step cascade, Seven Sister Falls is an upgrade with seven steps! Yes, you read it right, seven steps. It cascades down over limestone cliffs in Khasi Hills, at a height of 1033 Feet, which makes Seven Sister the tallest waterfall in India.

The luscious trees that surround this waterfall, and their beautiful flow will surely make your jaw drop with their beauty. That makes it a highly recommended Waterfall to visit!!

 

  1. Sweet Falls

Sweet Waterfall isn’t as popular as other waterfalls mentioned, but that gives one a reason to visit it. You get to experience the peace and serenity of the surrounding, the sound of water falling, the birds chirping around you, but minus the crowd and people.
