Many students excel at different games, but are not encouraged to play more as parents do not see any value in it. Which sports are covered under the scholarship?

What is the eligibility of the scholarship?

The scholarship is available to Indian students from moderate income families with a strong potential to excel at their chosen sports. Here are some of the major criteria

  • The family’s annual income should not be Rs 5 lakhs or less. They are also expected to have good academic performance in the last two years. 
  • It is important for the student to have association with a sports coach or a recognised sports body like a federation or academy. 
  • The student should have played the sport for at least two years, and should have won recognition and awards

What is the scholarship’s value?

The scholarship value is divided into different categories

Category A is for students who have won distinctions at international events can get up to 100% waiver on fee, subject to a maximum of Rs 6 lakhs per year for three consecutive years.

Category B is for students who have participated at international events can get up to 100% waiver on fee, subject to a maximum of Rs 4 lakhs per year for three consecutive years.

Category C is for students who have won awards at national events can get up to 100% waiver on fee, subject to a maximum of Rs 2.25 lakhs per year for three consecutive years.

Category D is for students who have participated at national events can get up to 100% waiver on fee, subject to a maximum of Rs 1.25 lakhs per year for three consecutive years.

Category E is for students who have won awards at state events can get up to 90% waiver on fee, subject to a maximum of Rs 75,000 per year for three consecutive years.

Category F is for students who have participated at state events can get up to 90% waiver on fee, subject to a maximum of Rs 25,000 per year for three consecutive years.

What is the application process for the scholarship? 

Here is the step by step process:

  1. Students should download the scholarship, fill it correctly and then submit the application.
  2. Ensure you are submitting the following documents along with the application: 
    1. Academic records of past two years
    2. Documents confirming family income or tax assessment form duly acknowledged by ITR for past two years
    3. Self declaration of family income
  3. Selected candidates get notified within 10 working days via email.
  4. It is followed by skills assessment and one-on-one interviews
  5. Scholarship value is disbursed to selected candidates.
