Round 1 NFL Draft Tracker Travon Walker

PHILADELPHIA – The Eagles start the night with picks 15 and 18 and rumors swirling that Howie Roseman may make a move up for a difference-making defender.No. 1 – Jacksonville Jaguars – Edge rusher Travon Walker, Georgia The thought was that the Jags were having a three-way debate with owner Shad Khan preferring Aidan Hutchinson, GM Trent Baalke liking the upside of Travon Walker, and coach Doug Pederson preferring an offensive tackle, either Evan Neal or Ikem Ekwonu.Baalke wins out and Walker, an edge rusher with a huge ceiling, is the first Georgia player to go No. 1 overall since Matthew Stafford in 2009.No. 2 – Detroit Lions – Edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson, MichiganHutchinson stays home going from Ann Arbor to Detriot, giving Sergio Rodriguez Jersey Dan Campbell one of the cleanest and safest players in the draft.No. 3 – Houston Texans – Cornerback Derek Stingley, Jr., LSUThere was a lot of talk about the Eagles moving up to get Stingley but the smoke of the Texans having the LSU corner No. 1 on the board was accompanied by fire.No. 4 – New York Jets – Cornerback Ahmad Gardner, CincinnatiAny hope the Eagles had of getting into the top 10 for one of the best CBs quickly ends as the Jets make it four defenders in a row with “Sauce” Gardner.No. 5 – New York Giants – Edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux, OregonIt’s five straight defensive players in the era of offense as the Giants pull the trigger on Thibodeaux, another potential trade-up player for the Eagles.No. 6 – Carolina Panthers – Offensive tackle Ikem Ekwonu, North Carolina StateThe Panthers had their choice of the best three OTs and kept Ekwonu close to home. The first offensive player comes off the board.No. 7 – New York Giants (from Chicago) – Offensive tackle Evan Neal, AlabamaHere Charles Barkley Jersey come the OTs as the Giants get help on both sides of the line of scrimmage with top-10 talent. Neal should help Daniel Jones settle in what will be a make-or-break season with New York eschewing the QB’s fifth-year option. No. 8 – Atlanta Falcons – Wide receiver Drake London, Southern CalArthur Smith wanted a big receiver and he got the best one in the draft in London. The questionable part is that the Falcons probably don’t have the consistent vehicle in quarterback with Marcus Mariota to get Kyle Pitts and London the football. The selection pushes the WRs the Eagles might be interested in down the board a bit.No. 9 – Seattle Seahawks (from Denver) – Offensive tackle Charles Cro s, Mi si sippi StateThe OT run lasts from No. 6 to 9 with Cro s being the last of the top three off the board. It would have been nice to get that kind of OL talent for Ru sell Wilson but I digre s. No. 10 – New York Jets – Wide receiver Garrett Wilson, Ohio State Unable to get the Deebo Samuel deal done, the Jets go WR and take Garrett Wilson over Jameson Williams, which is a slight surprise.No. 11 – New Orleans Saints (from Washington) – Wide receiver Chris Olave, Ohio State The Saints sent the 16th pick to Washington plus No. 98 and 120 to go up five spots, the other show after the pre-draft deal with the Eagles. The move was to get WR Chris Olave, another curious decision by Micky Loomis but the WR run may have spooked the Saints.No. 12 – Detroit Lions (from Minnesota) – Wide receiver Jameson WilliamsThe Lions moved picks No. 32, 34, and 66 to get No. 12 and No. 46. Wilt Chamberlain Jersey The Lions wanted in on the WR run and another player the Eagles like is off the board.No. 13 – Philadelphia Eagles (from Houston via Cleveland ) – Defensive tackle Jordan Davis, GeorgiaThe Eagles gave up Nos. 124, 162, and 166 to go up over Baltimore and select Georgia DT Jordan Davis, the logical targeted trade-up candidate.No. 14 – Baltimore Ravens – Safety Kyle Hamilton, Notre DameThe Eagles certainly weren’t the only ones who put the Ravens together with Jordan Davis but getting Kyle Hamilton, arguably the best overall football player in the draft is not a bad consolation prize. No. 15 – Houston Texans (from Philadelphia via Miami) – Offensive guard Kenyon Green, Texas A&MThe Texans drop down into the Eagles’ original spot to select offensive guard Kenyon Green. No. 16 – Washington Commandeers (From New Orleans via Indianapolis and Philadelphia) – Wide receiver Jahan Dotson, Penn StateScroll to ContinueThe Commandeers wanted a WR and felt comfortable falling back and taking Dotson.No. 17 – Los Angeles Chargers – Offensive guard Zion Johnson, Boston CollegeGetting help to protect prized young QB Justin Herbert was expected.No. 18 – Tenne see Titans (from Philadelphia via New Orleans) – Wide receiver Treylon Burks, ArkansasThe Eagles traded the 18th pick to Tenne see for veteran receiver A.J. Brown and gave the two-time 1,000-yard producer a four-year extension worth up to $100 million with $57M of that guaranteed. The splash everyone in Joel Embiid Jersey Philadelphia wanted. The Titans then selected Brown’s potential replacement in the big-bodied Treylon Burks. No. 19 – New Orleans Saints (from Philadelphia) – Offensive tackle Trevor Penning, Nothern IowaThe Saints get the offensive line help they needed after losing Terron Armstead in free agency, selecting Penning.No. 20 – Pittsburgh Steelers – Quarterback Kenny Pickett, PittsburghThe Steelers share a facility with the University of Pittsburgh so Kenny Maurice Cheeks Jersey Pickett can just head down the hall. This is the latest the first QB has come off the board since 1997 when Jim Druckenmiller was the 26th pick by the 49ers.No. 21 – Kansas City Chiefs (from New England) – Cornerback Trent McDuffie, WashingtonThe Chiefs sent Nos. 29, 94, and 121 to the Pats and selected McDuffie, one of the cleanest players in the draft but a player that lacks the length teams look for at cornerback No. 22 – Green Bay Packers (from Las Vegas) – Linebacker Quay Walker, GeorgiaWhile everyone zigged toward receiver help for Aaron Rodgers, the Packers zagged toward defense with Walker beating the more-touted Devin Lloyd and teammate Nakobe Dean as the best second-level defender to go.No. 23 – Buffalo Bills (from Baltimore via Arizona) – Cornerback Kaiir Elam, FloridaThe Ravens traded Hollywood Brown and the No. 100 overall pick to Arizona to get back into the first round but then moved back to 25 so Buffalo could get ahead of Dallas to take Florida CB Kaiir Elam, who was really well-liked by NFL personnel people.No. 24 – Dallas Cowboys – Offensive tackle, Tyler Smith, Tulsa The Cowboys ultimately defaulted to what had been their strength for years and went offensive line snaring Tyler Smith as a potential replacement for La’el Collins.No. 25 – Baltimore Ravens (from Buffalo

Vikings Cap Space Update Including Contr

The full contract details for have been reported. It’s a two-year deal worth $4.5 million not particularly expensive, but not the veteran’s Carl Soderberg Jersey minimum either.Only $1 million of the deal is fully guaranteed, which includes a $500K signing bonus. Reed’s cap hit this year is $1.75 million ($1.45 million base salary, $250K prorated signing bonus, $50K workout bonus). His 2023 cap hit is $2.75 million, $500K Nathan MacKinnon Jersey of which becomes fully guaranteed if he’s on the roster on the third day of the league year next spring. It’s a very affordable deal for a guy who to be the Vikings’ starting Andreas Martinsen Jersey right guard this fall. Reed has a slightly lower cap hit than fellow free agent pickup Je se Davis ($2.25 million), but he’s been more succe sful at guard recently than Davis has. Either way, it should be a fascinating competition that will also include 2021 third-round pick Wyatt Davis. Here’s a look at all of the external free agents the Vikings have signed this offseason:Scroll to ContinueDT Harrison PhillipsLB Ben Smith Jersey Jordan HicksOLB Za’Darius SmithG Je se DavisG Chris ReedCB Chandon SullivanTE Johnny MundtG Austin SchlottmannCB Nate HairstonDT Jullian TaylorAfter all of these moves, plus some restructures, re-signings, and extensions for returning players, the Vikings have just over Francois Beauchemin Jersey $12 million in current cap space. But because they need to sign their draft cla s and save money for in-season moves, they may need to restructure another contract (Brian O’Neill, Dalvin Cook, Eric Kendricks?) to make another significant signing.

Bills QB Josh Allen Best in NFL – But Wo

Since being drafted in 2018, Buffalo Bills quarterback has gone from a Rashad Vaughn Jersey rookie dealing with growing pains to MVP candidate and one of the best quarterbacks in the league. ( ) While the growth of Allen has been remarkable, he wants to continue to improve on- limiting his turnovers and ball placement. The main thing is still limiting turnovers, limiting bad decisions, Allen said. And then ball placement on some of the underneath routes, allowing the guys to get more YAC. Last year, I dont think Greg Monroe Jersey we were very good in that department. So its kind of on me to put the ball where it needs to be and allow our guys to utilize their legs and run after catch. The Bills finished 20th in the NFL in YAC in 2021, something Allen clearly takes personally, and wants to see improvement on. The Bills won Mirza Teletovic Jersey their second consecutive AFC East title last season, finishing 11-6. Their season ended in Kansas City for the second straight year Chris Copeland Jersey in an instant cla sic in the AFC Divisional round against the Chiefs. Buffalo was very busy in the off-season, adding the likes of Von Miller and Jamison Crowder via free agency, and drafting LSU cornerback Kaiir Elam to put alongside TreDavious White. Packers Select Penn State OT Rasheed Wal

GREEN BAY, Wis. For the third consecutive year, Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has drafted three offensive linemen. With the third of the teams four Patrik Laine Jersey seventh-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, No. 249 overall, the Packers selected Penn State offensive tackle Rasheed Walker on Saturday. Walker was projected as a potential third-round draft pick so, based on media draft boards, Walker provides great value this late in the draft.Heres Walkers story.Measureables: 6-5 5/8, 313. 33 5/8 arms. He decided to not go through physical testing.Analytical stats: Walker started 32 games at left tackle the last three seasons. In PFFs pa s-blocking efficiency, he ranked 56th and allowed four sacks. Moreover, backs gained 1.1 yards before contact on runs to his gap, easily the worst of SISs top Keith Tkachuk Jersey 24 tackle prospects. In three of his four seasons, that number was le s than 2.0 yards. He and Mi si sippi State’s Charles Cro s had the highest blown-block percentages, too. Hes a boom-or-bust player, . Personal touch: At age 8, Walker wore a size-10.5 shoe. Many weekends, he was deemed too big to play in the Pop Warner games. Teppo Numminen Jersey I had several coaches look at Rasheed, point to him and say, Look at your boy. Look at his hands. Look at his feet. Hes too big for my boys to move. He cannot play, . Rasheed would stand there and he would cry. While he never fought in a match, Walker took up boxing as a kid. “I was always tripping over my feet. But I started boxing and I really noticed a difference with my balance and footwork, . Athleticism and footwork, not production, will get him into the NFL. Thats really a big part of my game, my athletic capabilities, Walker Drew Stafford Jersey said at the Combine. I feel like Im one of the most athletic guys in this draft. I can say that with confidence. … Yall will see. He writes with his left hand but throws with his right. One of my biggest strong suits is my mentality and my competitive spirit, Walker said. Im going to go out and compete, give my all every play and every game. : Walker has all the talent in the world to end up as a franchise left tackle in the NFL. He has displayed really good film as a redshirt freshman and redshirt sophomore. He has excellent Dale Hawerchuk Jersey size and long arms. His footwork is so natural in pa s protection, and all of his natural traits show a player who can be elite in that area. His run blocking is fantastic as well. At his best in the run game, Walker can easily put defenders in the dirt or create holes for ball carriers to run through. He just isnt consistent enough at this point. The Packers are scheduled to make one more pick, No. 258 overall. The 2022 NFL DraftScroll to Continue

Jaguars Training Camp Preview Tight End

The Jacksonville Jaguars are a few weeks away from kicking off Doug Pederson’s first training camp at the helm, giving us plenty of time to take a look at each of the team’s position groups before the 2022 season.Jacksonville wasn’t afraid to make a number of big moves on both sides of the ball this offseason, both via the free agency and the draft. Now, they have a new-look roster that contrasts in a big way from the roster we saw the team field in Week 1 in 2021.Next up: the tight end position. What does it look like today, what changes did the Jaguars make Corey Brewer Jersey and what needs to be addre sed ahead of camp? The depth chartEvan Engram46 catches408 yards8.9 yards per catch3 touchdowns21 first downs61% catch rateThere are few players the Jaguars will need to step up this season more than Evan Engram. The former 2017 first-rounder spent five years with the Giants, recording 1,299 yards and nine touchdowns in his first two seasons. The last three seasons, though, saw him record 1,529 yards and seven touchdowns as the Giants dealt with quarterback and coaching i sues.Engram has mostly been able to stay healthy the last two seasons, though his catch percentage in that period is 59.9%. Some of that has to do with Daniel Jones, and some has to do with Engram recording 17 drops the last two years, per Pro Football Reference.Still, Engram has speed and athleticism that no Jaguars tight end has had in quite some time, if ever. The Jaguars believe in his talent and he has been a solid locker room presence and leader of the tight end room since his addition. He is clearly motivated by his Giants tenure and his desire to produce in a more tight end-friendly offense, giving him a lot of potential as a breakout player in Pederson’s offense.Dan Arnold35 catches408 yards11.7 yards per catch 0 touchdowns17 first downs68.3% catch rateOne of the Jaguars’ best weapons a year ago, the Jaguars are getting another year out of Dan Arnold after trading for him and a third-round pick in the CJ Henderson deal last fall. The Jaguars seem to be on the winning side of that trade thus far, with Arnold looking like a legitimate weapon and mismatch at times last season.Arnold will likely benefit from the Jaguars adding Engram to the tight end room and Pederson to the coaching staff. Arnold has the type of skill-set Pederson can tap into, and the Jaguars still need playmakers to separate themselves Larry Nance Jersey and stand out on offense. Arnold also built a lot of good chemistry with Trevor Lawrence during their time together last season.Engram, meanwhile, means Arnold no longer has to be the Jaguars’ best and top option at tight end in the pa sing game. Arnold is a good player, but the fact that he is now their No. 2 tight end instead of one of the top weapons in the entire offense is a good sign for their depth and for Arnold’s potential impact.Chris Manhertz6 catches71 yards11.8 yards per catch1 touchdown4 first downs66.7% catch rateA player who is greatly respected inside of TIAA Bank Field thanks to his leadership, intangibles and physicality as a blocker, Chris Manhertz’s role with the Jaguars isn’t set to change too much this year. Manhertz played all 17 games for the Jaguars last year but played just 36% of the snaps and saw nine targets on the entire year as his role was more of a blocker.Manhertz is expected to return to that role in 2022 in Pederson’s offense. While Pederson’s offense could call for potentially more schemed plays involving Manhertz, the biggest impact and role Manhertz is set to play on the current Jaguars roster is as a blocker. It wouldn’t be a shock to see him play the same volume of snaps as last season as the Jaguars’ top blocking option at the position.Scroll to ContinueLuke Farrell7 catches56 yards8.0 yards per catch0 touchdowns3 first downs63.6% catch rateA young player who the Jaguars believe is ascending and has a chance to show off a lot of potential, Luke Farrell appeared in 15 games last year but was mostly a reserve player on offense and featured on Tyler Ennis Jersey special teams. He did have flashes in limited snaps as a pa s-catcher last year and is one of two tight ends on the roster who has been on the since last training camp.Perhaps the biggest thing working in Farrell’s favor is his versatility. He is a strong enough blocker to play in-line while also offering the smoothne s and overall quickne s to make an impact as a pa s-catcher. The Jaguars think he can play both F and Y tight end, which may not be able to be said for the other three top tight ends on the roster.Gerrit Prince (R)An undrafted rookie who flashed as a pa s-catcher toward the end of OTAs, Gerrit Prince will face an uphill battle to make the roster. Still, if he can impre s in pads then he has a chance to be a darkhorse candidate for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Jersey bottom of the 53-man roster or even the practice squad.Grayson Gunter (R)Another rookie who had his moments as a pa s-catcher this spring, Grayson Gunter wasn’t as overall consistent as Prince but his flashes were just as impre sive. Gunter is set to face the same uphill battle as Prince, but he has a skill set to develop as a potential Y tight end.Naz Bohannon (R)A former tryout player who played college basketball at Clemson, Naz Bohannon didn’t play football during his college years but his athletic traits were enough for the Jaguars to want to stash on the roster entering training camp. How the room changed this offseasonThe Jaguars overhauled the overall tight end depth chart over the last two offseasons, with each player on the roster being a new addition in that period. The Jaguars saw Chris Manhertz (2021 FA), Luke Farrell (2021 draft) and Dan Arnold (2021 trade) all contribute last season, but new No. 1 tight end Evan Engram is a newcomer via free agency, while the other three tight ends on the roster are undrafted free agents signed this offseason. The biggest difference in the Jaguars’ tight end room after this offseason is clearly the presence of Engram. Engram is the new top dog in the tight end room, giving the Jaguars a pa s-catching threat and athletic mismatch option that they haven’t had at tight end in some time.Manhertz and Farrell’s roles aren’t impacted too greatly by the addition Shaquille O’Neal Jersey of Engram since each is more of a blocking tight end who won’t see as many pa ses. Arnold will go from the Jaguars’ clear top tight end to their No. 2 pa s-catcher at the position though, giving him a smaller role than last year but still a chance to be one of the top-5 pa s-catchers on the Jaguars’ offense this season.Aside from these changes, the Jaguars are also getting the pure impact of Doug Pederson’s hiring on the tight end room. Pederson made the tight end position a staple of his offense with the Eagles and he very well could do the same in Jacksonville from a schematic standpoint. The biggest storyline surrounding the group following the offseasonCan Evan Engr

Howie Roseman First-Round Trades are Map

PHILADELPHIA – The perfect scenario for the Eagles in the first round of the NFL draft very well could be a trade up then a trade back.Something like: Trade pick 15, a third-rounder (No. 83), and a fifth-rounder (154) to move up to No. 10 with the Jets and take Jordan Davis. Then: Trade 18 to the Chicago Bears for two picks in the second round (39 and 49) and a third-round selection in 2023. That would give the Eagles three picks in the second round when their own 51st selection is added. In a draft where the talent pool is deep beyond the first round, that would be a nice haul. All just speculation, but you get the idea. All of it of course is much easier said than done, for perfection is rarely achieved, if ever.If general Wayne Gretzky Jersey manager Howie Roseman can pull it off, what a coup it would be. He may find two trade partners, or he could find himself begging his cell phone to ring or for someone to answer his call.Whatever happens, the hope from a fan base that will be glued to the three-day draft that begins on April 28 would be that he spins gold from Cam Talbot Jersey picks 15 and 18 from whatever deal he makes or doesnt make.We have two picks, said Roseman, seated beside head coach Nick Sirianni as the two held their pre-draft media news conference at the NovaCare Complex on Wednesday. So, I think you’re planning every scenario about who you would move up for, who you would be really comfortable staying, how many players you would be comfortable staying, and what are the tiers that you would move back for, and what you would take.Obviously, there’s a price that doesn’t make sense to move back, either. We’ Mark Letestu Jersey re not going to move back 10 picks for a fifth-round pick. So, I think at the end of the day you kind of go through all those and you have a really good sense of what you want to do.Scroll to ContinueRELATED:Discu sions have already begun to see just how feasible a trade would be once the draft begins. In the first round we’ve always found that it’s helpful to have those trades mapped out beforehand, said Roseman. The way that goes isn’t like, Hey, we’re definitely doing this. It’s if we’re moving up, hey, if there’s a player that we want that falls to that spot, here’s what we would do; are we good on the trade compensation, so that you pick up the phone and I say Hey, the guy’s still there; you guys good? Jari Kurri Jersey They say Yeah. Trade is done.Last year, the Eagles and Cowboys spoke leading up to the draft about the potential of swapping picks, and thats what happened.Philadelphia gave its NFC East rivals a third-round pick in order to move up two spots, going from 10 to 12 in order to take DeVonta Smith. The Cowboys landed defensive rookie of the year Micah Parsons. When we picked up the phone and called Dallas, we kind of knew what the trade was going to be and what the price was going to be and that we had discu sed that, Roseman said.RELATED:I think that’s the easier way to go in the first round so you’re not in a situation where you guys are kind of scrambling because there’s a lot to do when you’re Patrick Maroon Jersey in the first round. You move up. You take a pick. Now you’re on the clock. Now you kind of got to get situated. You got to call in the trade. You got to make sure your guy is there. So that’s how we do it. My feeling is that’s how a lot of teams do it just based on the conversations we’ve had throughout the years, and I think it makes it flow easier.Once the first round ends, all trade bets are off. They are more spontaneous and develop quickly. When you get into the second round, third round, and beyond, those things do happen on the clock because they’re simpler, said Roseman, but when it gets into the first round, all those conversations will be had before the fact.

Bengals Address Defense Early and Often

CINCINNATI The Bengals are expected to focus on defense early in the 2022 NFL Draft and that’s exactly what they do in Todd McShay and Mel Kiper’s latest mock.Utah linebacker Devin Lloyd falls to them at 31st overall. Lloyd is considered the top linebacker in this cla s. He’s ranked ninth on Dane Brugler’s Andre Drummond Jersey big board.”I originally thought hard about Iowa center Tyler Linderbaum here, but Lloyd’s slide out of the top 30 forced my hand,” . “Lloyd impacts the game in so many ways, and he could be the Caron Butler Jersey long-term answer in the middle of the Bengals’ defense.”Pa sing on Linderbaum for a linebacker would be surprising. It’s also worth noting that cornerbacks Kyler Gordon and Kaiir Elam are both still on the board when the Bengals decide to take Lloyd.Cincinnati sticks with defense in round two by taking Alabama defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis at No. 63.” Bill Laimbeer Jersey There isn’t really a cornerback in this range, and the Bengals could use a boost on the interior of the defensive line, especially after losing Larry Ogunjobi,” .”Mathis’ game went to another level in 2021.”Other prospects still on the board include Cam Taylor-Britt, Jaquan Brisker and Bernhard Raimann.Cincinnati adds another Alabama player in round three by taking cornerback Josh Jobe at No. 95 Grant Long Jersey overall.Taking Lloyd, Mathis and Jobe would certainly give defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo young players to work with. They could all potentially contribute in year one.Jobe is probably the worst value of the three. He feels like a reach No. 95. What grade would you give the Bengals in this scenario? Why It Doesnt Make Sense for Giants to T

If the New York Giants were going to trade running back Saquon Barkley, they likely would have done so by now.But after a spring in which Barkley lined up all over the formation (and not only looking good doing so but also looking as healthy as ever), the team seems ready to roll with the fifth-year running back on its roster for better or for worse.I think any time you have a good player, if you’re an offensive play-caller scheming, you find a way to get the best players the football, head coach Brian Daboll said during the team’s mandatory minicamp. Targets. Sometimes as a decoy, touches in the run game. Guys that can produce and make yards with the ball in their hand, as a play-caller, you like those guys.Scroll to ContinueI think Saquon is a unique guy, Daboll added. You move him in different spots–that makes other guys have to learn other spots, too. … He’s got good hands, hes a good route runner. Try Justin Smoak Jersey to use him the best way we can.”Despite these glowing words of praise–and the action to back up the words–there is still some lingering insistence that Barkley could be a trade candidate at some point. Most recently, Kristopher Knox of listed Barkley as a Giant .There are a few counterarguments against the move being made at this point. The Money AspectAs Knox noted, Unloading Barkleys’s $7.217 million salary is a big reason why the “trade him now” talks remain alive. The second overall pick in the 2018 draft is entering the final year of his rookie contract. He was superb as a rookie Pro Bowler but has had his career derailed by injuries. He barely topped 1,000 rushing yards in his second season, suffered a torn ACL in 2020, and averaged a mere 3.7 yards per carry in 2021. While a healthy Barkley could help get more out of Jones, he could also bring much-needed value in a trade. While there is no disputing that the money would be nice, there is a two-fold counterargument against it.First, the free-agent pickings are slim to where if the Roberto Alomar Jersey Giants even wanted to add to the roster at a position, there’s just not a lot out there right now that would qualify for needing a lot of money. At this point, the Giants, who still need to sign three of their draft picks (Wan’Dale Robinson, Dane Belton, and Daniel Bellinger) before training camp opens, should have more than enough left over from the the NFLPA’s public cap Josh Donaldson Jersey report says they currently have, to add a guy or two at the bottom of the roster on a minimum deal or a reserve/futures type of contract. And as a final word on the cap situation, the Giants will likely have more space on their cap once they make training camp cuts. While that amount is still to be determined, very early projections should boost their available cap space by anywhere from $3-$5 million–and that’s a conservative estimate. Get Something Now Before He Walks AwayKnox wondered aloud if the Giants might be able to pry a high Day 2 pick from some team willing to trade for Barkley, but with a caveat:His guaranteed $7.2 million salary isn’t exce sive, and the Giants might be able to pry a high Day 2 pick from a contender if they’re willing to absorb some of it.There are a few counterarguments here. First, If Barkley, despite his recent injury history, is worth a high Day 2 pick, as Knox suggested, the odds are that if he’s not re-signed after this year, he might bring a third-round comp pick for the Giants. That wouldn’t be bad if it worked out that way. Let’s say the Giants need to trade up to get a new quarterback–a big at this point. Such a move is likely to nece sitate a small king’s ransom and would require the Randal Grichuk Jersey Giants to dip into their 2024 draft stock. Thus, the more picks they accumulate, the better, regardle s of round. As for Knox’s opinion that the Giants are “a franchise that isn’t ready to compete now,” while it is fair to say the team is still a ways away from entering the Super Bowl discu sion in a weak NFC East where there hasn’t been one truly dominant team, who’s to say that the Giants won’t be able to surprise a few people? The Quarterback’s DevelopmentThe Giants have done quarterback Daniel Jones no favors in creating the ideal environment for him to succeed. Whether it was the offensive line or the overall supporting cast, the fact that the Giants still don’t know after three seasons is simply criminal. This year, the organization has thrown its full support behind Jones, determined to find out if he’s their long-term answer. General manager Joe Schoen upgraded the offensive line as best as po Yangervis Solarte Jersey sible given the cap situation. He revamped the tight ends room and added another gadget type of player in receiver Wan’Dale Robinson. The Giants also hired a set of coaches with philosophies for running an offense that aligns with the league’s recent evolution. No more stick routes for this group–it’s going to be, get the ball into the hands of the playmakers and let them do their thing, and picking select spots to stretch the field.Barkley, as evidenced by his deployment in the spring, is going to be a big part of all that. While one might argue that he’s a “boom or bust” runner–an argument based on his production is valid–there is no disputing that Barkley when he gets into space, is a weapon for an offense. In his rookie season, he led all running backs in .Given all that and what appears to be a heavy workload planned for him in this year’s offense, suggesting his removal from the picture at this juncture would not be in the team’s best interest.RELATED: RELATED:
