Bhuvneshwar Kumar Wants to Make a Comeback in Test

India speedster Bhuvneshwar Kumar wants to make a comeback in the longer format of the game but he believes that it won’t be easy since everyone in the team is doing pretty well. Bhuvneshwar last played a Test match way back in January 2018 against South Africa in Johannesburg, which India won convincingly by 63 runs. Moreover, he was one of the familiar faces of the white-ball set-up before he got injured.

“I definitely want to play Test cricket, but I know it won’t be easy to make a comeback, as everyone is doing very well,” the 30-year-old pace bowler said to Timesofindia.com. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has played 21 Tests and has 63 wickets in his name as well.

He further added, “But I’ll try my best and will do everything I can to make a comeback in the Test format, as I think it is the toughest format and it gives a lot of satisfaction to perform well in that format.”

He had picked up a groin injury earlier and later diagnosed as a sports hernia as well and because of this, he missed India’s tour of New Zealand. However, he is now fully recovered from his injury. “I have now fully recovered from the injury and am raring to go,” he added.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was about to be in the Indian team for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup which is scheduled to take place in Australia later this year. But questions raised on its future too amid the global pandemic novel coronavirus outbreak and the tournament is most likely to be postponed. However, as of now, his sole focus remains to ensure that he and others around stay safe amid this critical situation.

“At this moment, I am not thinking about the World Cup selection, it is more important for things to get better and for everyone around us to be safe,” he concluded.
