Bungee Jumping in Rishikesh: A Total Adrenaline Rush

As someone who is a sports junkie and a thrill seeker, bungee jumping in Rishikesh ticked all my boxes. The city is famous for religion, but it’s also got the best bungee jumping experience in India. After spending two days exploring and trying rafting, I finally got the courage to try bungee jumping in Rishikesh.

The day of the jump

We were picked up and travelled to Mohanchatti, where the bungee jump platform is. The platform looks high when you’re standing on the ground, but when you reach the top, it’s just crazy! It’s higher than a building with 20 or 21 floors, and quite frightening.

After climbing up to the platform, I was safely secured into a harness and the bungee rope was tight around my ankles. The instructors there were extremely skilled and talked me through all the important rules and safety measures and precautions, but I’m going to be honest, I was so very scared. My heart was racing and I think everyone around me could hear it. After a few minutes, the time to take that leap of faith (quite literally) had come. I said a little prayer and braced myself. One, two, three, I was off.

As I was plummeting through the air I don’t remember much. Each second feels like an hour when you’re literally falling into the earth. Then, suddenly my cord was finally fully outstretched and I jerked to a stop before bouncing up and down a few times. Then the rope slowly lowered me. After collecting myself I felt somewhat victorious. I had bungee jumped and lived to tell the tale. I was so proud of myself for doing it, and got a certificate to prove it too.

I also saw a Flying Fox activity there, but I had already stretched my budget. My friend did the Flying Fox instead of bungee, and it looked super fun. The platform is nearly 400 feet above the ground, and you’re basically strapped into a sleeping bag type of bag which is the harness. You’re travelling along a cable while lying down. It looked exhilarating! He was zipping through the valley and going rather fast, but still, it looked like fun.

The bungee jump was the perfect end to my trip and I would love to do it again
