Buying A Used Or Reconditioned Motor Grader! What To Check

A reconditioned motor grader retails at a fraction of the price of a new model. However, before you jump in and pay, there are vital components you would check for signs of wear and tear and worn repair jobs.

Steering

Steering is a vital factor of any vehicle. It permits the operator to control the heavy-duty machine like a used cat motor grader for sale.

An easy way to examine the steering is to turn on the engine, hit the clutch, and turn the steering wheel in all directions. If the clutch pedal kicks up as you are manipulating the routing wheel, it is a sure sign there is a problem with the cushion controller.

A defective valve can result in a locked steering system.

Hydraulics

Hydraulics is what powers the heavy machine. Leaks can dramatically affect the motor grader’s performance. You can check the hydraulics system for leaks and confirm no damage to the piston rods or pivot pins. Inspect all hoses, cylinders, and lines inside the motor’s engine compartment and out.

Circle

The circle engrosses the most force during motor grading. However, the used cat motor grader for sale is practically useless without an entirely functional and adequately maintained loop.

You must check for any cracks, welds, or plates. Inspect the teeth for wear, as even the slimmest damage can affect operations and is expensive to repair. If the surface of the circle displays signs of uneven scuffing, you do not correctly align it.

An excellent way to examine the circle is to move it through all its motions. You can identify whether there is excessive play on the turn cranks or link system.

Moldboard

Examine the moldboard for any signs of deterioration. The cutting edge is straight, all the bolts in position, and the sidebars at the top of the board smooth and free of influence damage. If there is less than around 13 cm of cutting edge, you can replace it.

Body Alignment

You can inspect the grader’s body for cracks, plates and repairs, and, where required, confirm the repairs were done by a skilled welder. Ensure the frame is not leaning to one side and extent the distance between the tandems and the rear rolls for consistency.

You can check that the front and back of the vehicle are brought into line. However, any problems with the alignment are generally indicative of a bent or loose articulation point.

Motor Grader Servicing: Best Practice

At KH Plant, capable and experienced technicians follow a rigorous step-by-step renovating process. Only the best repair and restoration techniques are laboring to create a ‘good as new’ and fully working motor grader.

The procedure starts with an exhaustive pre-build inspection and assessment that pinpoints precisely which you can repair or replace constituents. When a rebuild blueprint is in place, you can sandblast, prime, and disassemble the machine.

You must examine each part, and any cracks, metal fatigue, and abrasions are well-known for further attention.
