Canada Introduces Stricter Travel Restrictions After Seeing Rise In Covid Variants

The Country of Canada has introduced stricter travel restrictions after seeing a massive surge in COVID cases that involves new types of variants.

The news was announced by the Federal Government of Canada on April 22, 2021.

In the statement, it was announced that the government will be introducing tighter travel restrictions in order to halt potential spreadable variants of the coronavirus and protect the people that are living in Canada.

As of April 22, 2021, people from India and Pakistan will not be allowed to enter Canada.

It was announced by the federal government of Canada that all passenger and business flights from India and Pakistan will not be entering the country for the next 30 days. However, cargo planes that are carrying coronavirus vaccines and protective equipment are going to be allowed to enter Canada despite the other travel restrictions.

People that are travelling to Canada from India or Pakistan through an indirect route are required to have a negative coronavirus test from the “last point of departure”, said Minister Omar Alghabra.
