Canada recently announced its plans that they are going to welcome 401,000 new immigrants this year.

The plans were announced by Marco Mendicino, the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, announced the plans in October of last year.

Last year, Canada only welcomed 184,000 immigrants because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Right now, Canada is prioritizing in transitioning temporary residents to permanent residence.

Canada is on pace to welcome 401,000 new immigrants this year

Earlier this year, IRCC invited over 27,000 candidates from CEC to apply for permanent residence.

Please keep in mind that those numbers are six times larger than the previous Express Entry draw record of the country.

Not only that, but recently, IRCC launched 6 new permanent residence streams with hopes to convert 90,000 essential workers and international graduates to permanent residence.

If the virus situation stays under control in the country, the chances are really high that Canada can continue its plans until 2023.
