Canada Welcomed Over 15,000 Newcomers In November 2020

In the month of November last year, Canada welcomed around 15,000 newcomers, said the government of Canada.

The latest IRCC (Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada) data shows that the country allowed around 15,300 in the month of November last year.

The level is the same as October and September.

The numbers are getting low because of the pandemic.

Usually, Canada welcomes around 25,000 to 35,000 new immigrants, but the coronavirus pandemic has caused the country to put strong guidelines, which caused a huge fall in the immigration intake of the country.

Canadian Immigrations

Canada imposed travel restrictions in March 2020.

In the 11 months of 2020, Canada welcomed 174,000 immigrants, this helps us calculate that there was less than 200,000 new immigrant intake by the country.

This is the first time this happened since 1999.

Under the new immigration plans of Canada, the country wants to bring in around 400,000 new immigrants on a yearly basis.

They want to do this with some 60 percent arriving through economic class pathways such as Express Entry.
