Challenges in finalising the Indian Premier League 2019 schedule
The IPL 2019 which is going to start from 23rd March this year is going through tough situations as the fixtures are not out yet. The BCCI is working on it but the problems like General Elections in the country and the drought in Maharashtra state is the key problem in deciding the schedule.
Despite General Elections the IPL 2019 is going to be played in India as it is confirmed but due to the dates of General Elections are not out yet the BCCI has to work on the schedule with cooperating with the State Police to provide safety in whichever city the match will be held.
The solution for the above problem has not come yet and the new problem arose before that and this problem is faced every year in between the IPL. The problem is of drought in Maharashtra state. The Maharashtra State Government has already declared more than 900 villages as the “affected regions”, and the Wankhede Stadium which is in Mumbai, Maharastra is the home ground for the three times IPL champion team Mumbai Indians.
In the previous edition of IPL i.e. IPL 11, the problem arose in the state of Tamil Nadu in which the Chennai Super Kings have their home ground at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The Tamil Nadu Government was having the dispute with the Karnataka Government for the allocation of water from the Kaveri river the State of Tamil Nadu and due to protest against this in Tamil Nadu, the people came to the road and hence the BCCI shifted the matches of CSK to Pune Stadium. The team which was making his comeback after two years under the captaincy of MS Dhoni “ The Thala” played only one game at their home ground and won the match also.
