The 66i provides location tracking and two-way messaging, so no matter how off the grid and the trip may be, individuals can stay in touch. Using the universal coverage of the Iridium® satellite network, the GPSMAP 66i allows individuals to communicate with any email address, cell phone number, or other inReach device, while using GPS to share and track the progress of the journey. If the 66i individuals enable Live Track, those at home wanting to provide along can view the individual’s location on their Map Share page.
With direct-to-device downloads via Wi-Fi® of Birdseye Satellite Imagery, individuals can see high-resolutions photo-realistic views of their route. Easily find parks, clearings, trailheads, for campsites, stand locations for hunting and more. Plus, the GPSMAP 66i originates preloaded with routable topographic maps so individuals can see where they’re headed in more detail, like coastlines, rivers, summits, terrain contours and geographical points.
Compatible with the Garmin Explore™ app, individuals will be able to access additional features and tools for trip planning, outdoor navigation, mapping and data sharing. This allows the individuals to type using the keyboard on a mobile device for access phone contacts and inReach messages. GPSMAP 66i is also well-matched with Garmin wearables like the Instinct, Taxtix Charlie, fenix 5 plus series, and MARQ Expedition for replying, viewing messages, and initiating an SOS while the device is secured in a pack.
The GPSMAP 66i will be obtainable in June 2019 with a suggested retail price of $599.99.
