Google Chrome Changes Tech to Become Less Burdening
The world’s most popular browser, Google Chrome, has been under recurring fire and critique for some time now. But the tech giant slowly but surely has given its users a reason to keep using the browser. And the best part is that they didn’t make a scene out of it.
The new version released by Chrome is aimed to decrease the enormous amount of memory used by the browser while running. The update will be beneficial to both casual and rampant users, as well as both multiple tabs and singular tab people. This shows that Google listens to its customer base who has been crying about the overuse of the RAM by the browser even while the load is low intensity. The rampant overuse resulted in the coining of Chrome as the infamous resource hog.
Microsoft lends a hand
What is the reason for this sudden awakening? Google got their hands onto a technology called Segment Heap, used by Microsoft in its Windows 10 May 2020 version. The technology optimizes memory management, and it was reported that early tests on Chromium-based browsers by Microsoft saw a reduction in memory consumption by 27 per cent. This could save hundreds of MBs on the browser.
The promptness of response was surprising
Only weeks ago, the problem of Chrome overusing memory was highlighted by users the world over. It didn’t take much time before programmer Bruce Dawson revealed that the change made it to Chrome Canary. He confirmed that the browser now successfully runs Segment Heap technology. This is surprising as nobody expected the solution to come about so quickly.
Chrome Canary is a browser made for developers, not required by a casual user or even a professional for that matter, who isn’t a developer. But anybody interested in finding out more about the browser can do so as the new technology allows Chrome Canary to run alongside the standard version.
