Google Rolls Out Experimental Digital Wellbeing Apps

A year ago, Google rolled out Digital Wellbeing. It contains quite a strong set of features and functions aimed at helping users keep a tab on the amount of time they spend on their phones. Now, the tech giant aims to expand the capabilities of Digital Wellbeing by launching new apps. These apps are:

  • Unlock Clock
  • We Flip
  • Morph
  • Desert Island
  • Post Box
  • Paper Phone

Users can now get these applications from the Google Play Store.

Google Rolls Out Experimental Digital Wellbeing Apps

Unlock Clock

This newly released app allows you to set a new live wallpaper where you can track the number of times you unlocked your device in a day. After installing it, it can be found in the Google Wallpapers app. This way, you can closely monitor your phone usage by seeing the number of times you unlock your Android phone. While it is quite simplistic, some users are complaining about the lack of customization options.

Post Box

This application enables users to minimize distractions by disabling the notifications for the specified duration. Users can select how often they would like the notifications to appear. Once the notifications come, they shall be properly organized so that the user can easily browse them. This app is pretty smart. In case you want to turn off notifications during your work hours, then this app will come handy. However, if you want notifications every fifteen minutes, then perhaps this app is not suitable for you.

We Flip

This app allows the users to log off from technology together with a group. For example, if you are spending time with your friends, then you can use it. Just wait for everybody to join and just flip the switch for beginning the session. In case anybody in your group unlocks their device, then the session will come to an end. Then you will be able to view how you performed. This is a great app for putting devices away and spending quality time with friends and family.

Paper Phone

This new experimental Digital Wellbeing app is rather intense. Users need to choose the aspects of their device they require on that day and then take a print of it. For instance, if you are headed to a new cafe and want directions, then Paper Phone shall print it for you so that you do not have to carry your phone along. You can choose some contacts whose address or email Ids you may require, lessons from language learning apps or crosswords to work on while traveling to work.

Desert Island

Do you want to be more focused? Desert Island is a fun and difficult challenge wherein you have to spend a whole day with just the essential applications. You can mark which apps are of the most important to you and start the experiment. When the session ends, you will be able to see the number of times you opened different apps. The interface is minimalistic, and the concept is great. However, some users are complaining about the lack of dark mode in the app.

Morph

Morph app enables users to stay focused as it adapts the phone to what they are doing. Users have to tell the apps they use at particular time periods. For example, when at work, users might use Office apps, Email, and Contacts. When traveling, users may use the Calendar, Navigation app, and YouTube. Users can customize different scenarios, and the app will adapt the device on the basis of the time to provide the apps that the users may need.
