Steps to Backup Files and Folder Using Command Prompt and Notepad

•    Switch on the computer.

•    Click on the F8 keys given on the system keyboard.

•    Choose the Repair Your Computer option.

•    This option is given below the Advanced Boot Options.

•    In case you are not able to get the Repair Your Computer option below the Advanced Boot Options, then start using the installation file.

•    In case you use the CD or USB drive, then click on any button on the system keyboard.

•    You will get the “Windows is loading files” text on the screen.

•    Choose the language and keyboard type.

•    After that, press on the Next option.

•    Now, you will get the Install now option.

•    You do not press on the Install now option.

•    It will open the installation display.

•    It will open the installation window.

•    Press on the Repair your computer button.

•    It is given in the end left-hand side of the screen.

•    It will open the System Recovery Options menu.

•    Now, the System Recovery Options menu will find the Windows installations.

•    Choose the operating system, press on the Next option to get all the recovery tools which are available now.

•    Now, you will get the System Recovery Options which are available now.

•    Press on the Command Prompt option.

•    By going to the Command Prompt, enter Notepad,exe.

•    Click on the Enter option.

•    It will open the Notepad app.

•    After opening the app, press on the File option.

•    Click on the Save As button to open the Save As panel.

•    Find the files which you wish to backup.

•    Connect the external storage or USB.

•    You need to right-click on the files and folders which you wish to back up.

•    Choose the “send to” option.

•    Open the Command Prompt.

•    To check the drive which is available now, enter ‘diskpart’ in the given box.

•    Click on the Enter option.

•    Enter the “list volumes” in the provided field.

•    Press on the Enter option to get all the drivers which are available now.

•    Place the USB drive.

•    Enter ‘list volumes” once again.

•    Click on the Enter option.

•    Enter exit in the search bar.

•    Click on the Enter option to close the diskpart mode.

•    Enter the drive letter, which includes the data you wish to backup.

•    Click on the Enter option.

•    Enter dir to get all the folders and files located in the C drive.

•    To open the folder, enter “cd foldername.”

•    Click on the Enter option.

•    To go to the old folder, enter “cd” in the provided box.

•    Press on the Enter option.

•    Enter xcopy DirectoryPathToCopy DriveLetterToCopyInto\ /E for copying the folder.

•    Now, you can start reinstalling the Windows operating system.
