How to Evolve Inkay into Malamar and Goomy into Goodra in Pokémon Sword and Shield

In Pokémon Sword and Shield, trainers travel through the region of Galar and face tons of new Pokémon, also known as the British-themed region home. There are two Pokémon roaming around, such as Inkay and Goomy, that users can use to defeat the enemy in the Overworld combats. However, players are facing problems in locating or evolving them in the game. So, here is the complete breakdown where to find Goomy and Inkay and the instructions afterward to change them.

How to Find Inkay in Pokémon Sword and Shield?

In Pokémon Sword and Shield, users can locate Inkay in five different locations such as Bridge Field, Route 7, Route 9, Hammerlocke Hills sections of the Wild area, or Giant’s Mirror. Most importantly, wild Inkay levels in these locations will range from level 28-30, 37-41, 39-43, 40-43, and 41-45, respectively. Inkay mostly appears in Giant’s Mirror while biking over the water or in the Overworld at Route 7 out of the five different zones.

Otherwise, gamers will have to locate it thought random encounters in Hammerlocke Hills and in the grass at Route 9. However, encountering Inkay in the grass is quite tricky as it depends on the weather condition and will vary from 10 percent to 35 percent for the Wild area sections. Moreover, hunting down the Inkay at Route 9 in the random face-off is noted to 25 percent in every weather condition.

How to Evolve Inkay in Pokémon Sword and Shield?

After catching Inkay, make sure to raise it to at least level 30 or higher before fulfilling the following condition. After increasing the level via EXP or in battle, rotate the console upside down before closing the dialogue or ending the fight. If done appropriately, you will evolve your Inkay into Malamar.

Pokémon Sword and Shield: How to Find Goomy?

As we know, Goomy was first added as a native to the Kalos region in the Generation 6 game. It is a dragon-type Pokémon that evolves into Sliggoo via enhancing level. You can also change it into Goodra, a pseudo-legendary Pokémon, after increasing the level in a specific weather condition. Once the Pokémon reaches its maximum, one can access powerful moves like Outrage and Aqua Tail, along with massively boosted base stats.

Players can only find Goomy in the Lake of Outrage section to the northwest in the wild area. Head straight up the hill and use the bike across the lake to locate the area where it can spawn. It mostly appears in the rainy weather; so, make sure to move after meeting such conditions. Most importantly, try to check the red exclamation points as it will not spawn visibly in the Wild Area.

Pokémon Sword and Shield: How to Evolve Goomy into Goodra or Sliggoo?

Once you have caught Goomy, players will need to raise it to at least level 40 and evolve into Sliggoo. However,  you can evolve Goomy into Goodra after reaching level 50. Make sure to raise Goomy in the rainy weather if you wish to turn it into Goodra. Additionally, the way Sliggoo level up does not matter in the game as compared to Goodra as changing weather during combat will affect the evolution. In the end, if every requirement is met, you will attain Goodra.
