Delete Location Data From Your Timeline/Location History and Turn It off

By deleting your location data from your timeline/location history and disabling this setting, you can make sure Google cannot store your location data. To get started:

  1. Go to the app (Google Maps) and click on the avatar/user icon, which is present on the top right corner of the app.
  2. After that, tap/click on “Settings.”
  3. Next, click on “Personal content.”

  5. After that, use the toggle button to switch off location sharing.
  6. Go back to the “Personal content” menu and select the “Location History is on” option.
  7. Tap/select the account for which you want to disable location history.

  10. Click on “Pause” to confirm your choice.
  11. Now click on the “Auto-delete” option.
  12. Select how frequently you want to delete your location history.
  13. Now click on “Next.”

To delete your previous location data:

  1. Go to the app (Google Maps) and click on the avatar/user icon, which is present on the top right corner of the app.
  2. After that, tap/click on “Settings.”
  3. Next, click on “Personal content.”
  4. Now click on the “Delete all Location History” option.
  5. You will see a confirmation popup on your screen.
  6. Select the checkbox and click on the “Delete” button.
  7. Finally, click on “Done.”

Stop Google Maps From Storing Your Location on the Web

  1. Open your browser and visit google.com/maps.
  2. Now tap or click on the user/avatar icon.
  3. Next, hit the “Manage your Google Account” option.
