Recent research conducted by Later, the social media scheduling service, found that the most effective moment to publish on Instagram is between 9 am, and 11 am Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Wednesday. Later’s findings were based on more than twelve million Instagram posts. Before the outbreak of Covid-19, several prominent social media companies thought that the best times to publish were before lunchtime (12 12:45 pm EST/11:00 11 am CT) on Wednesday and Fridays (see the data taken from Sprout Social; Oberlo). Sunday was considered to be the worst day to make a post.

With people spending more time online and at home during the outbreak, the behavior of social media users has changed, and there is an update to Instagram information. There is no agreement with the most renowned researchers that we studied.

Sprout Social analyzed data from more than 20,000 of its customers. Then, they looked at twelve million Instagram posts presented as a global summation. The third expert, Brand Mentions, analyzed 2.2 million posts several times (including 2020).

We’ll show every post-Covid result that we’ve collected from Later, Sprout Social, and Brand Mentions to evaluate and select which results offer the most pertinent information for you.

The Brand Mentions study tells a different story. The best times to share content on Instagram are in the evening and late afternoon during the CDT time zone.

Monday

The research revealed a slight overlap of the best times to publish the Mondays of each week, and 12 pm and 10 pm showing up as a result of the Later in the study and Brand Mentions Results.

 

  • Later Than 6 am, 10 am and 10 pm
  • Sprout Social: 12 pm
  • Brand Mentions noon, 10, and 11 pm

Tuesday

Tuesdays are an entirely different ball game, with no agreement at all. Each study differs from the other in this case: Later recommends early morning, Sprout Social endorses the afternoon, while Brand Mentions recommends late-night hours.

 

  • Later Than: at 2 am, 3 am, and 9 am
  • Sprout Social 12 2 pm, 3 pm
  • Brand Promotions: 6 pm, 9 pm, 10 pm, and 10 pm

Wednesday

While experts on social media marketing have always believed Wednesdays to be the perfect day for interaction among Instagram users, the inconsistent results on the best timing of the day make it challenging to identify the best time to engage. The only expected time (in three studies) is 11 pm.

 

  • Later Than: Seven am, eight am, and 11 at night
  • Sprout Social: 12 pm
  • Brand Promotions: 6 pm, 10 pm, 6 pm, and 11 at 11

Thursday

Similar to Wednesday’s findings, there is only one time that is overlapping during the day that is not covered by the research. In this instance, it’s Later and the recommendation of Sprout Social, noon.

 

  • Later Than: 8 am 1 pm and 7 9 pm.
  • The Sprout Social: There is no ideal time listed in the post-Covid study; however, its prior study suggested a range between 11 am and 1 pm.
  • Brand Mentions: 5 pm, 8 pm, 5 pm, and 11 midnight

Friday

The results of Friday’s study mirror those of Tuesday’s in that there seems not to be any connection between the two studies, but the results at noon and noon seem to be pretty close. Brand Mentions’ research focuses on times after sunset.

 

  • Later Than: 5.30 am. 1 pm and 3 3.30 pm.
  • Social Sprout: 11 am and 12 pm.
  • Brand mentions: between 7 pm and 11 midnight.

Saturday

The data for the weekend has the most significant overlap among the weekdays that we’ve observed so far.

Later And Brand Mentions share 7 pm on the same schedule; Later also shares an 11 am suggestion along with Sprout Social. It is possible that 4 pm can be a standard time for Sprout Social and Brand Mentions due to the speculative Sprout Social claim that users tend to be “more active on weekends.”

 

  • Later later: 11 am, 7 pm, 11 am, and eight at 8
  • Sprout Social: The infographic didn’t list the dates, but it states that the weekends are “more active, following a workday pattern between 9 am and 5 pm.”
  • Brand Mentions: 4 pm 7 pm, 11 pm 11 at 11

Sunday

There’s a chance of good overlaps (4 3 pm in all three, and five 2 pm for two) due to the suggestion of Sprout Social that people are becoming more active during workweek times than they were before Covid-19.

 

  • Later Than: 7.30 am and 4 5
  • The Sprout Social: Similar to above
  • Brand Mentions: 4 pm, 5 pm, 4 pm, and 10 pm
