IPTSE Examinations – Key details you need to know

In 2018, the Government of India backed the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s initiative to launch a nation-wide initiative dedicated towards the spirit of innovation and invention. It launched the Intellectual Property Talent Search Examination; a unique examination targeted at the youth of India – school and college students. The objective of this examination is to encourage the youth to understand the importance of intellectual properties and IP rights. Young Indians with original, path-breaking ideas can appear for this examination and win cash rewards and backing from the government to register patents, trademarks or copyrights for their inventions. Here are some key details about the IPTSE examination.  

IPTSE – Participation, course content, exam structure and mock tests 

Participation: Sponsored by ASSOCHAM and ERICSSON, Intellectual Property Talent Search Exam is designed for schools, school and college students. Students from class 9-12 from all schools across India, be it government or private; boys, girls or co-ed schools, English or regional medium schools can participate in the exam. College students from all different streams, vocational or technical colleges can also participate in the exam.  

Course content: The course content for the IPTSE exam is developed in a manner that can be easily grasped by students of the above mentioned reading and learning levels. However, the syllabus for school and college students is slightly different and the latter have to appear for a lengthier examination. 

All students participating in the exam can get access to digital content on the IPTSE website https://iptse.com/. The course content is available in PDF format. Note that the content may only be encrypted and there is no option to print it. Any unauthorized use of the examination content, other than using it for the purpose of the IPexamination is deemed as a punishable offence. 

Exam format and structure: The IPTSE exam is an online examination and students need access to an internet enabled device such as a desktop computer, laptop or tablet to appear for the exam. The duration of the exam is 45 minutes for school students, while college students are allotted 1 hour for the exam. This is because college students must appear for 5 extra questions than school students. The exam consists of 5 sections and every question should be answered within the time limit allotted to it. The examination is designed in the MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) objective style. 

Mock Examinations: Students can get access to mock tests which are regularly available on the IPTSE website. These tests can help them examine their speed and accuracy before appearing for the actual Intellectual Property Talent Search Exams. They can also opt for e-mail notifications and SMS alerts regarding the availability of mock tests.  

Registration payment details
