Everyone must have heard of the well-known multinational semiconductor company Advanced Micro Devices. It’s been decades since AMD is producing some of the best computer processors and other related technologies. Some of the main components that AMD provides are motherboard chipsets, microprocessors, graphics processors, and embedded processors. These components are used in personal computers, servers, embedded system applications, and workstations. AMD has produced some of the most popular processors for the systems over the years. In this article, we have tried to compare some of the well-known processors by AMD in terms of their GPU scaling. We decided to compare Ryzen 3 3300 to Ryzen 5 3600 to check which one processes the graphics more precisely.

The Ryzen 3 3300X that was launched nearly two months ago impressed users with its vast capabilities. With the release of this entry-level option by AMD, there are now more respectable choices available for purchase.

We compared Ryzen 3 3300X with Ryzen 5 3600 and Ryzen 5 2600 in terms of GPU scaling, and we were amazed by the results. You may refer to the details mentioned by us below regarding the results to know if Ryzen 3 3300X is a better value than Ryzen 5 3600.

Benchmarks

In this section, we will discuss how we have compared all the three processors and among the processors who came out to be more capable. We have compared all the processors in terms of GPU scaling with four well know graphics processing units. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super, Radeon RX 5700, and Radeon RX 580. The comparison has been made after we did tests of the processors using the above mentioned four graphics processing units by setting different quality presets for the PC games.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

(At Medium Preset Quality of 1080 pixels)

We started our process using a medium quality preset at 1080 pixels of the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. We found that out that Ryzen 3 3300x performed in between Ryzen 5 3600 and Ryzen 5 2600 when we used the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 TI with all the three processors. The Ryzen 5 3600 came out to be around 15% faster than the Ryzen 3 3300X, but even though Ryzen 3 3300X wasn’t up to the mark of Ryzen 5 3600, it still came out to be faster than Ryzen 5 2600.

When we used the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super, the Ryzen 5 3600 came out to be just a single frame faster than Ryzen 3 3300X. And in this case, too, Ryzen 3 3300x was still faster than Ryzen 5 2600.

When we tested the performances with the Radeon RX 5700, we found that all the three processors resulted in almost similar performances. The Ryzen 5 3600 was only 2% faster than Ryzen 3 3300X. However, here also Ryzen 3 3300X came out to be 5% faster than Ryzen 5 2600.

When we tested out the performances with the Radeon RX 580, there were hardly any differences that could have been figured out. Both Ryzen 5 3600 and Ryzen 3 3300X came out to be providing similar performances under the gaming conditions at 1080 pixels medium quality preset.

(At Ultra High Preset Quality of 1080 pixels)

When we increased the quality of the game to its maximum, the performances of all three processors with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 TI was similar. The performance of Ryzen 5 3600, Ryzen 3 3300X, and the Ryzen 5 2600 performances came out to be similar.

With the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super, Ryzen 5 3600 came out to be a bit faster compared to the Ryzen 3 3300X and Ryzen 5 2600, which were equal in performance.

With the Radeon RX 5700, Ryzen 5 3600 came out to be a bit faster than to the Ryzen 3 3300X. Alongside, Ryzen 3 3300X came out to be a bit faster than Ryzen 5 2600.

With the Radeon RX 580, Ryzen 5 3600 came out to be a bit faster than to the Ryzen 3 3300X. And similarly, Ryzen 3 3300X came out to be a bit faster than Ryzen 5 2600.

The differences were so minor that they can be almost neglected.

(At Medium Preset Quality of 1440 pixels)

When we compared the performances of the three processors as mentioned earlier with the 1440 pixels resolution of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, we found out that the performances of Ryzen 5 3600 and Ryzen 3 3300X were almost identical. There were hardly any differences that would have been considered among the two when tested using all the four GPUs. However, Ryzen 5 2600 had some minor differences in terms of performance compared to Ryzen 5 3600 and Ryzen 3 3300X using the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 TI, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super and Radeon RX 5700. Although it served identical performance like the other two when tested with the Radeon RX 580.

(At Ultra High Preset Quality of 1440 pixels)

All the three processors offered similar performances when they were tested with Radeon RX 5700 and Radeon RX 580. However, there we some slight variations in the performance of all the three processors using the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super. But the performance of the processors Ryzen 5 3600 and Ryzen 3 3300X were identical and that of Ryzen 5 2600 a bit different when all three got tested using NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 TI.

Far Cry New Dawn

(At Normal Preset Quality of 1080 pixels)

When we compared the performances of the three processors with the 1080 pixels resolution of Far Cry New Dawn, we found out that there were considerable differences in the performances of Ryzen 5 3600, Ryzen 3 3300X and Ryzen 5 2600, when we tested all the three using NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 TI, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super and Radeon RX 5700. There were at least 6-13% differences in all the three cases. However, there were some average differences in the performances of all three processors using Radeon RX 580.

(At Ultra Preset Quality of 1080 pixels)

When increasing the preset to ultra-quality, we found out that the performances of all three processors using NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 TI and Radeon RX 5700, were differing by at least 10% for each. The performance was, however, varying in all the three processors by 5 to 13% using NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super. The performance came out to be very near to similar to all the three processors using the Radeon RX 580 GPU.

(At Normal Preset Quality of 1440 pixels)

When we tested out the processors with the normal preset quality of 1440 pixels, we found out that all the three processor performances were identical with Radeon RX 580. And there were around 6-7% differences in the performance of the processors using the other three GPUs: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 TI, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super and Radeon RX 5700.

(At Ultra Preset Quality of 1440 pixels)

After testing out the processors with the ultra-preset quality of 1440 pixels, we found out that in ultra-preset quality also all the three processor performances were identical with Radeon RX 580 yet there were around 6-15% differences in the performance of the processors using the other three GPUs: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 TI, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super and Radeon RX 5700.

Conclusion

Ryzen 3 3300X can be considered as the best budget processor as it is no less in comparison with the Ryzen 5 3600 processor in terms of the processing speed, and other features. If you want the best budget processor, you can opt for Ryzen 3 3300X without a second thought. It delivers excellent performance and can be considered a cheaper replacement for the Ryzen 5 3600 processor.
