Krishna Janmashtami ISKCON Delhi 2022- Why Is It Special This Year?

For the past two years due to covid crisis there was no Janmashtami celebration but finally due to the weak covid situation this year ISKCON Delhi is all set to celebrate the grand celebration of Janmashtami 2022 where devotees from across the country are invited both offline and online to attain the mercy of the Supreme Lord at ISKCON Delhi Janmashtami which will be held within the temple premises.

At ISKCON Delhi every day is a celebration as you can witness the aarti on a massive scale. However, Krishna Janmashtami at ISKCON Delhi is the grandest festival of the year. More than 8 lakh devotees visit the temple at this grand carnival.

Grand Celebration At ISKCON Delhi

ISKCON Delhi will be bedecked in a special decoration for the occasion. On this special day, the temple hall is decorated with beautiful and fragrant flowers and digital colorful lights. Then the ceremonial bathing ceremony starts where the deities are bathed with auspicious items like milk, yogurt, ghee, honey, sweet water, and fresh juices. They are then smeared with turmeric paste and bathed in Ganges water. Varieties of flowers are showered until the Deities are submerged in the soft bed of flowers. All the deities are lavishly dressed in beautiful garments, garlands, colorful flowers, jewels, and precious ornaments with Srinagar aarti.  Since morning approx. ten thousand devotees start assembling in the temple hall to see the special cultural programs.

The special attraction during the Janmashtami celebration is the elaborate Maha-Abhisheka and Maha Yagna. A grand abhisheka is performed at midnight using Ganga water, milk, honey, water, and other ingredients. A melodious kirtan accompanied the Abhishek, and devotees joyful danced and melodiously sang the Hare Krishna Mahamantra, “HARE KRISHNA HARE KRISHNA KRISHNA KRISHNA HARE HARE HARE RAMA HARE RAMA RAMA RAMA HARE HARE”.and culminates it with Maha Mangala Arati & Sankirtana at 12 Midnight, coinciding with the time of Krishna’s birth. Later the Deities are offered Raj bhoga of 1008 food items to Their Lordships with devotion. A Maha-arati is performed and all devotees swing the palace of Lord Krishna to attain his special mercy and the devotee’s honor Sankalpa-Prasada (Ekadasi Prasada) after midnight. Lately, Prasadam is distributed among devotees. To participate, offer an ISKCON Janmashtami donation.
