Marvel Movies That Aren’t Part Of MCU

Several movies are based on the Marvel Comics before the MCU that are not included in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Starting from Howard the Duck to Venom, some movies are not considered as part of the MCU. Before the release of the first MCU movie, Iron Man, the adaptations of the Marvel Comics were regarded as critical failures. After the big failure of Howard the Duck, Marvel decided to sell their movie rights to others.

Here are some of the Marvel movies that are not considered as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Howard The Duck (1986)

Howard The Duck is a Sci-Fi comedy film, which was released in the year 1986. This film was based on the character of Marvel Comic of the same name. This film was released as a live-action film instead of an animated film due to contractual obligations. Howard the Duck was the first Marvel Comic adaptation, but unfortunately, it was a big failure and disappointed the fans.

The X-Men Franchise (2000-2019)

The X-Men films are based on Marvel Comics, but 20th Century Fox acquired the rights to this franchise until 2019. Finally, Marvel Studios has acquired the rights of X-Men films with the acquisition of Fox by Disney. It is expected that the upcoming X-Men movies would be considered as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man Trilogy (2002-2007)

Sam Raimi directed its first Spider-Man movie in the year 2002. It was based on the Marvel Comics but cannot be considered part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After the success of the first Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man 2 was released in 2004, following Spider-Man 3, which was released in the year 2007. The character of Spider-Man was played by Tobey Maguire in this trilogy.

Fantastic Four & Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer (2005-2007)

Fantastic Four is another excellent film based on Marvel Comics, but it is not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This film was released in the year 2005. This film is a great success. After the huge success of this film, a sequel to this film was released in the year 2007, Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer. This film was even more successful as it is considered a much-improved film compared to the original Fantastic Four movie.
