It can be argued that the second and third installments of the movie were not up to the mark, and were not able to answer the questions raised. However they were drastically more successful than the predecessor. The film, in a way, can also be considered a turning point in Keanu Reeves’ career. The series indeed assured us of his ability as an action hero. The film gained him a massive amount of devoted fanbase and the movie changed not just the genre, but filmmaking in general too. The movie had innovative special effects and a fantastic soundtrack.

The Plot

The movie revolves around Thomas Anderson, played by Keanu Reeves, who feels that something is wrong with the world. Neo, which is his hacking alias, is then apprehended by a bunch of people in black suits. He finally manages to outrun them with the help of a phone call by Morpheus, played by Laurence Fishburne. Neo is then offered two pills by Morpheus, saying that the first one will make him forget this ever happened,  and the second one will allow him to know the truth of this world.

After Neo takes the second pill, he wakes up from his physical inactivity and Morpheus explained to him the truth about the world. We are in the 21st century where machines have taken over the world, and they make the humans live in a simulated reality. Neo later is trained by Morpheus to be able to awaken his dormant abilities.
