Located on the banks of the Beas River, Manali is a place of snow-capped mountains, deep valleys and religious pilgrimages. The area is dotted with Hindu temples, Buddhist monasteries and dazzling gompas. Cascading waterfalls, sulfur springs and Arjuna Cave are some of Manali’s main attractions, and adventure activities include year-round skiing, mountain climbing, hiking and kayaking. Champagne, the capital of the charming region that bears its name, is far from ordinary. Its claims to fame lie in its dynamic temples and festivals – the annual Mangar Harvest Festival in July and the Soi Mata Festival in memory of the princess in April. Founded in 920 AD, Champa survived for nearly 1,000 years, and by 1845 it had fallen into British hands. Champa is located on the banks of the River Ravi and is known for its clear snow fields, which are popular for hiking.

Located in the middle of a barren desert, Abu Mountain is the only mountain station in Rajasthan. This picturesque city is a lush green oasis with a stunning collection of wonderful Dilwara Jain temples, famous for its architectural beauty dating back to the 11th century. Both of the mountains, located at the highest peak of the Aravalli mountain range, are considered a sacred place and a center of religious pilgrimage. Once a royal and later British refuge, Mount Abu is covered with rivers, lakes, waterfalls, lush green forests and beautiful landscaped gardens. The hill station is home to a wildlife sanctuary with more than 800 species of plants and a variety of wildlife, including panther, lazy, wild boar, saber and jungle.
