Patrik Wilson Will Direct Insidious 5

One of the Insidious franchise actors, Patrick Wilson, will direct the upcoming movie Insidious 5. The movie will be a sequel to Insidious and Insidious: Chapter 2. The new project of the film is said to take place after ten years of the second film. The franchise has been winning fans’ hearts since 2011; however, it did not get critically acclaimed.

Insidious is a horror series created by Leigh Whanell and James Wan. The franchise consists of four movies, and the first was released in 2010. The horror movie franchise collected a gross of $539 million against a budget of $26.5 million. The first two films, Insidious and Insidious: Chapter 2 is directed by James Wan, Leigh Whannell directed Insidious: Chapter 3, while Adam Robitel directed Insidious: Last Key, and now Patrick Wilson will direct the fifth movie, Insidious 5.

Patrick Joseph Wilson is a singer and actor who is doing his directorial debut with Insidious 5. He is known for his roles in Insidious: Chapter 2, as Ed Warren in The Conjuring franchise, Annabelle Comes Home, Hard Candy, The A-Team, and Watchmen.

He also starred in the HBO’s miniseries Angels in America, CBS TV series Gifted Man, FX’s series Fargo and many more. He received nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award for Outstanding Supporting actors in a miniseries or a Movie.

Wilson graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama from Carnegie Mellon University. He started his career in Todd Field’s Little Children in the role of Brad Adamson. The upcoming movie Insidious five is based on Chapter 2 by Leigh Whannell, who co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Teems. The film is a pick up after a decade from Whannell’s Chapter 2, as Dalton starts college.

In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, Wilson shared that he is thrilled and honored to be a part of the upcoming Insidious installment, which will give him a fantastic opportunity to tell Lambert’s story and go through the ten-year journey. He added that directing this project personally and professionally is a full circle for him. He is extremely grateful to be entrusted to tell the world the haunting and frightening story.

He also shared that the people in the first movie stayed connected with the project and kept it interesting that is one of the main reasons the franchise could make its separate fanbase. He also showed his gratitude to Jason Blum, who is also the film producer for Blumhouse.

Steven Bersch said the President of Screen Gems said they are excited to have Patrick in Josh’s character and make his directorial debut with the franchise.

In the first installment of the franchise, Insidious, Josh (played by Patrick Wilson) and Renai Lambert (played by Rose Byrne) watch their son Dalton (played by Simpkins) is in a coma-like sleep and travel through the astral plane. Later Dalton becomes a portal for spirits to come into the living world and eventually make their house haunted.

The second movie, Insidious: Chapter 2, is about the Lambert family dealing with Dalton, who has become empty vessels for spirits who are coming out from “The Further” (is a dark world filled with tortured nightmarish spirits and dead souls). It follows Lorraine Lambert, Josh’s mother, who helps her son get rid of an older woman’s evil spirit.

Insidious 5, the upcoming installment, will be a sequel to Chapter 2, and Wilson will take the story “further.” The Insidious franchise is a modern horror with a modernized haunted house and disturbing character, which helps the story not solely based on evil spirit horror.

The franchise’s upcoming movie will introduce the fresh blood to the audience, and the new director has carved its characters and plot freshly. However, according to records, the longer the horror franchise continues, the more it loses a step or two. Hopefully, the Insidious team is well aware of the record and is prepared for not repeating the typical flaws.
