Self Priming Trash Pump

What is self priming pump?

Self priming pump is a kind of centrifugal pump which can be operated in a suction-lift configuration without asking an external priming system. Usually centrifugal pump can’t pump air. Since they operate by imparting velocity to a liquid, they must be filled with liquid in order to operate. However, there is a special type of centrifugal pump that can evacuate the air from its suction line. This type of pump is a self-priming pump.

What is self priming trash pump?

Self priming trash pump, solids handling, trash pump that is suitable for a wide range of applications. Also known as, wet prime pump, autoprime dewatering pumps. Self priming trash pumps are designed to maintain the flow of large volume of water containing mud, sand, sludge and other wastage with no external assistance. They usually operate powerfully under irregular flow conditions due to hard and soft solids present in the water.

Trash pumps do not grind up solids or debris, they just transfer it through. Contractors, farmers, and municipalities are constantly facing dewatering tasks that have high solid content such as leaves, sand, sewage, twigs, sludge, and mud. The size of solid content that a pump can handle will depend on several factors including types of impeller, horsepower of the engine, and size of suction and discharge ports.

Self priming sewage pump can easily handle solids up to 3 inch in diameter. They are ideal tool for dewatering applications with solid content. Guzu machinery offers them in a variety of sizes to meet specific application requirements.

The combination of different sized pumps, impeller trims and speed variations ensure that the correct capacity pump will be matched to the exact requirements of your system, whether it’s a small sub-division or a large waste collection system. These pumps feature a large volute design that allows them to reprime automatically in a completely open system without the need for suction or discharge check valves – and they can do it with the pump casing only partially filled with liquid and a completely dry suction line.

4 inch, 6 inch trash pump are the most widely used model. They provide the proven performance you have come to expect. They are perfectly suited for construction sites that need to be dewatered quickly. They can be customized in skid mount, heavy duty trailer mount or convertible.

What are self priming pump used for?

Commonly it used in sewage lift stations, where raw sewage is pumped into a treatment facility. They are also commonly mounted on portable skids and used to pump stormwater and for dewatering of construction and mining operations. When used to dewatering construction sites, self-priming pumps are often referred to as trash pumps – a reference to the fact that they are capable of pumping the debris that is typically found at construction sites.
