The Yakama Reservation has been issued a burn ban by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Due to the increased pollution levels produced by area fires, EPA Issues Burn Ban on Yakama Reservation According to projections, the hazy conditions are expected to last at least through Friday. Starting immediately and ending at noon on Friday, burning is prohibited. Regardless of who owns the land or whether or not they are a member of the tribe, the burn prohibition affects all locations within the outer reserve limits where fires are to be started, whether for agricultural, camping, or recreational purposes. The burn restriction does not apply to ceremonial or traditional fires. It’s possible that burn prohibitions will be in place to keep forests safe from fire.
