“There is a confidence in the CSK dressing room” – Faf du Plessis

Veteran South Africa player and former captain Faf du Plessis, who has been a vital cog of Chennai Super Kings since the beginning of cash-rich tournament Indian Premier League, has said that the environment in the dressing room of the team is very calm as there are a lot of thinking cricketers in the dressing room.

“There is a confidence in the CSK dressing room that someone will pull it through for us, and on each occasion, it is someone different. The guys share the load in winning games, it is a confidence thing by doing it again and again,” du Plessis told former Zimbabwe pacer Pommie Mbangwa during an Instagram Live session.

The Chennai based franchise has been one of the most successful IPL teams in the history of the league. They have won the trophy thrice in 2010, 2011 and 2018 and only Mumbai Indians are ahead of them who won the title four times. Notably, Chennai are the only IPL team to qualify for the playoff stage in every edition in the league and they have also won the Champions League T20 tournament twice in 2010 and 2014 as well.

However, they were eyeing for their fourth IPL title in this year which currently stands postponed for the indefinite time period owing to COVID-19 pandemic outbreak which has claimed several lives so far. Even last month Dwayne Bravo had said that their captain MS Dhoni doesn’t put pressure on anyone in team meetings.

“MS doesn’t put pressure on anyone. Outside of cricket, you rarely see him, but his room is always open, so you can walk in there anytime. He’s brilliant to have conversations with, obviously played so many games,” Bravo revealed. “He creates an environment where people feel comfortable and everyone relaxes; he doesn’t behave like a superstar despite all his accolades and achievements.”
