Powder UV coating has risen in popularity since its inception more than 40 years ago, and it is currently employed by many makers of ordinary household and industrial products. More than 5,000 finishers in North America are projected to use powder to create high-quality, long-lasting finishes on a wide range of items. Powder coated coatings are resistant to scratches, corrosion, abrasion, chemicals, and detergents, and the process can reduce costs, improve efficiency, and facilitate environmental compliance. Because powder coating materials do not contain solvents, the process emits very few, if any, volatile organic compounds (VOCs). It does not require any venting, filtering, or solvent recovery systems, as are required for liquid finishing operations.
