Electrical Floor Heating, otherwise known as underfloor heating, is a kind of central heating & cooling often meant to achieve indoor climate control for thermal control by using an electrical heating element or Hydronic. These materials are embedded inside the floor. By using this electrical floor heating, heat is achieved by conduction, convection, and radiation.

Just like the radiator, which heats the air in their immediate vicinity, underfloor heating also produces radiant heat that will comfort you by keeping you warm. Radiators are meant to heat the air, especially the cold air near the radiators, which ultimately goes up toward the ceiling to heat the air above.

The heated air will eventually cool down and will drop to the floor level, where it’s going to heat up again by the radiator. In this way, a circular airflow is created, which provides heat. The underfloor heating and the radiant heat emitted from the floor will bring warmth to the floor. This underfloor Electric Heating will also provide more even heat distribution than the conventional heating methods.

Through this heating method, the entire floor now works as a giant radiant heater that heats the people rather than the object. This will ultimately heat up, and there will be no risk of overheating or any energy wastage.

Type of Systems involved in Electrical Floor Heating 

In electrical floor heating, an ultra-thin wire is installed under the floor level, and this wire heats up when the electric floor heating system is heated up. The heat produced heats the floor surface and provides radiant heat.

When you go for electrical heating, you will find a heating cable available both pre-spaced on a mat or in a foil, as per the floor type, and as a membrane along with the loose wire system. It comprises a thermostat that is used to control the systems, and there is a need for a certified electrician for this purpose as they can make the electrical connections and wind up the thermostat to demonstrate the underfloor heat system.

There are mainly 2 main ways to assemble the system, through the electrical resistance or thin hoses with the fluid running through them. These systems are incorporated inside the floor during construction or renovation. These systems also remain uncovered and are inaccessible due to their concrete structure type.

A contact, radiation to the air of the internal environment, heats up the house floor. In the case of electrical floor heating, the heating system is greatly simplified. It just only needs a thermostat, and this can regulate the desired temperature.

Otherwise, the radiant hydronic floor works through the coils built into the floor, whereas the heated water will travel. Water stored remains in a closed system and is circulated uninterruptedly, alternately heating up and losing this extra energy to the environment. Several ways, like gas boilers, diesel oil, solar heating, or even electrical resistance, can be used to heat up. This option is more environmentally friendly, and it generally does not use as much electricity.
