The Legendary Game Iron Man VR Crashes, and Soars

Games like Iron Man follow winding fiction and are padded with several levels of tutorials. If players had the option to skip those tutorials and jump into the middle directly, Iron Man VR would have been everyone’s favorite game. Coming back to reality, the game lacks shine throughout the first two to three hours which is long enough to bore anyone who is not new to VR.

From the beginning, the game gives an odd narration of its story. Throughout, the game could not decide if it is meant for an audience who knows Marvel fiction or its for those who will be having their first interaction with Marvel through the game. The game starts with Tony Stark leaving the industry of weapons just as he did in the Iron Man film. This initially places the gamers in the actual origin of the story. And then suddenly it jumps into the future with no explanation of what happened in between. We have no idea why the makers assumed that gamers would already know the story.

Now, the game shows that Tony has to bear the repercussions of his former actions, which is unknown. A bizarre villain named Ghost appears and accuses him of the death of a number of people with weapons of Stark Industries. Throughout all this chaos, you might feel disconnected from Tony Stark and his place in the story. Sometimes, Tony seems to have a similar personality as Peter Parker. Alongside, the voice actor of Tony, Josh Keaton, who did the voice-over of Spider-Man in Spiderman cinemas, does not fit in properly.

What makes Iron Man VR better is its strong gameplay. Flying in the space, glimpsing outdoor settings after a long lockdown, and driving through narrow spaces at a high pace feels challenging and thrilling. You need to learn just a bit in the beginning and once you do so, the gaming experience feels amazing. The first four chapters of tutorials on how to fly will definitely not let you fail in this and you will have more than enough time to learn. However, those who are a quick learner might feel these tutorials are a never-ending chapter.

After Chapter 5, the game becomes more interesting as now you will be attacked by a number of enemies all at once. To survive you will have to update your fight techniques and use different tactics with each enemy. Though it feels interesting at the beginning of the chapter, it kind of becomes repetitive towards the end. If the chapters weren’t that long, the game would have been much more interesting. Analogous to the game’s confusing nature regarding the players’ knowledge of Marvel, Camouflaj seems to be skeptical if the game is going to be players’ first-ever VR game or 30th.

The combat trials in the game are quite fun with a higher amount of thrill and excitement. This section is the best VR arcade section you can show to your friends. There are different kinds of trials that are very addictive and are of perfect length. Only if these combat trials were there in the entire game rather than just being a side part, Iron Man VR would have made it to the best games in VR. These trials are worth all the money you spent on the game.

Well, we cannot say that the game is completely trashed but it is rather a mixture of good VR gameplay. The game turns amazing when it starts trusting the ability of players and throws fun challenges. However, this happens very rarely and after completing the long tutorials. Once you finish the game, you can show it as a great VR experience with your friends. However, reaching the point of completion might require sheer patience.
